Try to study the same time each day. Online college is very flexible and sometimes it is hard to discipline yourself to study. It is also very hard to devote time for studying when your kids needs have to be met. It is best if the kids can go to a friends for a few hours. If not though, have them study the same time as you. If they are not old enough to study, have them play a game or watch a movie. Do this at the same time each day if possible. If your schedule doesn’t allow you to study the exact time each day at least try to pick a specific time the day before and stick to that time.
Don’t try to multi-task. Devote yourself to studying and completing your work during your school time. Single parents have many responsibilities. They have to fix dinner, clean house, take care of the kids and help the kids with their school work. Don’t try to do anything other than your own school work during school time. Think of it like this: If you were at a ground campus you couldn’t clean house, cook dinner, or take care of the kids. Treat online study time the same and devote your time strictly to school. School work takes a lot of concentration and it is important to focus on school and only school during the time you have allotted for study time.
